Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Glendale
We're so glad you're here. First Presbyterian Church of Glendale is a traditional, historic congregation where we joyfully proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord.
We gather as a community to live out our faith through worship, fellowship, and service, following the example of Jesus.
As a Presbyterian church in the Reformed tradition, we are guided by the authority of the Bible, listening for the voice of the Holy Spirit as God speaks to us through Scripture. We are also a confessional church: we value the historic creeds and confessions, such as the Apostles' Creed and the Heidelberg Catechism, that have helped Christians understand and express their faith for centuries.
Come as you are
Whether you're visiting for the first time, returning to church after years away, or looking for a church home, you are welcome here. We are a small, close-knit congregation, many of us longtime members, and we'd love to get to know you. Through our mission and fellowship in the Glendale community, we try to live out a lasting commitment to love God and neighbor.
What to expect in worship
Our worship is traditional and liturgical, following patterns Christians have used for generations. Scripture shapes every part of the service, from the opening call to worship to the blessing at its close. Our prayers and preaching follow the great story of the Bible: God's good creation, our turning away from God, our redemption in Jesus Christ, and the hope that God will one day make all things new.
Each Sunday includes organ music, classic hymns, prayer, Scripture readings, a sermon, and a benediction. You don't need to know when to stand or sit. The bulletin will guide you, and no one will put you on the spot.

You will be greeted as you enter the church building and receive a paper program/bulletin which outlines the order of worship and contains weekly announcements for the church community.

We believe worship is a shared family experience where children learn by participating and observing. Their presence reminds us of the joy and wonder of faith, and their sounds and movements are welcomed as part of our living church family.

The sacrament of the Lord's Supper (also called Communion) is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. During this sacrament, we share bread and juice as visible signs of God's grace given to us through Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

Coffee hour is held in the social hall following worship. This time of fellowship and refreshments has a history at FPCG...stretching back to at least 1938.”
